I’m in the process of moving house right now. I just made my first trip to the new place after stopping at the apartment agency to fill out forms and get my keys. To get from Akihabara to the new place takes about an hour each way, and the time has gone by waaaaay too quickly today. I’m trying to make as few trips as possible, but have become burned out very fast. I think I may just stay for one more night in Akihabara (I don’t have to be out until tomorrow) and then take my two bags over tomorrow after work.
I chose probably the worst possible day to move – the weather in Akihabara today is brutal. It started raining literally the second I stepped outside my building, so I had to run in and get an umbrella. The wind has been buffeting it around into innocent bystanders. I’m getting grumpier and more unpleasant by the second because I haven’t eaten yet today (it’s 6:30 PM), I’m not done moving, and the bottom of my pants are soaked from puddles. I am so not kidding when I say that is one of the things I hate most in this world. That and wet socks. Seriously.
I declare it time for a ramen break and one more night in Akihabara. There’s not really any point in pushing to get this done when I have one more day to take care of it. I’ll just end up pissing myself off if I keep going. So, apologies to anyone who was looking forward to seeing the new apartment right away – it’ll have to wait one more day.
Also, I’ve got a bunch of video from this weekend’s events that I’m going to put together and get up on YouTube within the next couple days. It was bizarre to be around a bunch of Americans again. I think I experienced culture shock by being thrown back into my own culture for a day. I kept thinking “aaaaah, get me back to Japan!” Funny how that happens.
Anyway, tomorrow will hopefully bring a new place and a less whiny version of me. It’s time for some ramen.
Edited to Add: It was pouring outside when I went for the 1 block walk to the ramen place. I’m glad I chose to stay put for another day. The ramen was insanely hot and delicious. I am on the verge of a food coma and have seared several taste buds. It was so worth it.
